Ceiling Board Calculator South Africa

Use the Ceiling Board Calculator South Africa to estimate sheet boards or PVC panel rows. Enter measured ceiling area, exact product dimensions, one allowance and actual pack size. The tool keeps area-based sheet estimates separate from full-length PVC row quantities.

Quick answer

A hypothetical 24 m² ceiling with one layer, 10% allowance and 3.6 × 1.2 m sheets needs round up(26.4 ÷ 4.32) = 7 sheets. Packs of four require 8 purchased sheets. These are arithmetic dimensions, not a standard Rhino or Nutec specification.

How it works

Use the Ceiling Board Calculator South Africa to estimate sheet boards or PVC panel rows. Enter measured ceiling area, exact product dimensions, one allowance and actual pack size. The tool keeps area-based sheet estimates separate from full-length PVC row quantities.

Formula

Sheet pieces = round up(net ceiling m² × identical layers × (1 + allowance/100) ÷ sheet m²). PVC rows per room = round up(across-room width ÷ effective panel cover width). Round the required pieces to full purchase packs.

Assumptions and common mistakes

Check units, input values and the method before relying on an estimate. Review the existing tool notes and official sources below.

Formula

How to use the ceiling board calculator

Choose sheet boards or PVC rows. Sheet mode accepts identical rectangular ceiling faces or a known combined area, with total exclusions across the whole measured area. Include only the same product and specification in one estimate. Measure sloping ceilings along their actual surface, not only the floor footprint. Bulkheads, drops, soffits and different products need separate take-offs.

Sheet boards, layers and cutting allowance

Enter the exact sheet length and width in millimetres. The example 3600 × 1200 mm is not a universal product size. Specify the number of identical layers of this product, apply one allowance, then round to whole sheets and full packs. Area alone does not prove that narrow pieces, staggered joints or required support positions can be achieved. Agree a cutting layout and allowance with the installer.

Rhino ceiling board calculator inputs

RhinoBoard is a Gyproc product family with different board specifications and intended systems. Confirm the actual item, thickness, dimensions and installation system rather than assuming that every Rhino board is interchangeable. A quantity result does not establish framing centres, fire performance, acoustic performance or moisture suitability. Enter the confirmed board details without substituting another product’s data.

Nutec ceiling board calculator inputs

Nutec ceiling products are fibre cement products with their own dimensions, installation and joint details. Do not treat them as the same material as gypsum plasterboard. Check the selected Everite product specification, exposure, support, handling, fixings and finishing system. The tool does not choose a thickness, spacing or fixing schedule from the brand name.

PVC ceiling board calculator and direction

Enter effective installed panel cover width, available stock length and the chosen run direction. The method counts full-width rows across each room and one stock panel for every row. It requires stock at least as long as the selected run and does not design end joints. The allowance is added to the combined row quantity before full packs. Openings are not deducted, and offcuts are not reused between rows or rooms. A detailed cutting plan may produce a lower purchase.

Ceiling board calculator Cashbuild comparisons

99tools is independent of Cashbuild, Gyproc and Everite. Use the exact product label, dimensions, pack count and quote, including items bought from Cashbuild. Match area, layers, cuts and purchase rounding before comparing results. Do not assume a generic sheet size, pack quantity, current price or stock availability from a supplier name.

Cost, perimeter and excluded materials

Choose a price per purchased piece or complete pack. Labour uses net ceiling face area for the agreed layer/system scope, with delivery and other quoted totals added separately. Keep one VAT basis; no extra VAT is added. Zero-price items remain unpriced. The rectangle perimeter is only a geometric edge length, not a rounded cornice or trim order. Framework, suspension, fasteners, joints, access panels, insulation and finishes need their own measured scope.

Copy, print or download the estimate

After calculating, copy or print the result, or download a CSV for Excel. The file is a quantity and entered-cost snapshot, not a workbook with live formulas or an installation drawing. Changing an input invalidates the earlier result. Confirm the complete order and system suitability before purchasing.

Frequently asked questions

How many ceiling boards do I need?

For sheet boards, divide net ceiling area times identical layers and one allowance by exact sheet face area, then round to whole pieces and full packs. Check a cutting layout separately.

Is there one standard Rhino or Nutec board size?

No universal size is assumed here. Enter the exact selected product dimensions and confirm its thickness and system requirements.

Can I calculate PVC ceiling panels?

Yes. Use effective cover width, run direction and stock long enough for that run. The conservative row method does not reuse offcuts or design end joints.

Can I deduct openings from PVC rows?

This row method does not deduct openings. A cut-out does not automatically remove the need for a full panel row.

Is this the Cashbuild ceiling board calculator?

No. 99tools is independent. Enter the exact Cashbuild or other supplier product data to make a comparable estimate.

Does the tool calculate brandering and cornices?

No. A displayed rectangle perimeter is geometric only. Framework, suspension, cornices, fixings and other components need separate take-offs.

Can I download the result for Excel?

Yes. Download the CSV snapshot after calculating. It contains quantities and entered costs, not live Excel formulas.
